The Genius Machine is a cool new map for Minecraft that has been created to show off what kind of things you can do in the new PC 1.8 version. It’s an interactive story, where you are guided through the map from room to room to discover new things and learn more of the story.

It was made by Minecraft fans The VoxelBox in 72 hours, and tells the story of a crazy scientist who has built a massive computer called The Genius Machine and needs some help testing it. You’ve been asked to help, and by meeting with the scientist you can start your journey of discovery. You’ll be helped along by ERNA, a robotic computer who has lots of different face expressions and will float around the lab as she follows you.

The map really does show off the power of Minecraft’s 1.8 update. We think we’ll start seeing lots more cool maps come from the Minecraft community full of things like characters that talk and events that happen on their own without you having to press any buttons.
