It’s not quite the full Mario Kart action we’d like to see, but Nintendo’s best plumber is on his way to mobile phones in a new Mario Kart TV app that links to Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. It will let you watch videos and review rankings on the go without being near your Wii U console.

This makes it sound like you’ll be able to upload replays of your Mario Kart 8 races to a YouTube-like service, which can be viewed in the Mario Kart game or on smartphones using this new app. This sounds a great idea; you’ll be able to show off your amazing driving skills to your mates without having to get them to come to your house and watch you play.

There’s no release date for Mario Kart TV, but we expect it very soon, as Mario Kart 8 for Wii U is released at the end of the month on May 30th.
