Terraria 1.3 update simplifies multi-player and adds lots of content.

If you’ve not played it yet, Terraria is a bit like Minecraft but in two dimensions. At first it can seem like a backwards step but only in the same way as Minecraft’s blocky visuals. In similar fashion, having just two dimensions has in no way limited Terraria — either its creative experience or popularity.

Today a new update for the PC version takes it to 1.3. This adds a wide variety of things from re-imagined sprites and backgrounds to new features and some new story and item content the fans of the game crave.

The most significant of the chances are enhancements to the multi-player mode. Players will now no longer have to set-up port-forwarding and IP sharing to connect with friends for a boss fight. The game now handles all this for you.

To celebrate, Family Gamer TV has started a new Kids Play series on the game. The first epsiode is published above, others will be available on the Terraria Let’s Play playlist.
