Pokemon Snap in Virtual Reality

This is pretty cool: someone had made Nintendo 64 game Pokemon Snap work with the Oculus Rift, making a virtual reality Pokemon safari! Take a look in this great video.

Oculus Rift is like a pair of glasses, but instead of glass lenses you look right into two TV screens. Because the screens are so close to your eyes, it makes your brain think you are in the place shown on the TV screens because you can’t see anything else. This is brilliant for games, because instead of looking at a game world on a TV screen, it feels like you are actually inside the game.

This experiment with Pokemon Snap is pretty cool, but it is just an experiment and it won’t be a full game. We can only hope that Nintendo decide to make Virtual Reality games in the future and make something similar.

The Oculus Rift will be available to buy sometime next year. Sony are currently working on Project Morpheus, a virtual reality headset for PlayStation 4, although Sony have not announced when they will be releasing it.
