Mario Golf: World Tour hit the shops last week and although you can purchase new DLC to get awesome new characters and courses like in the video below, that’s not the only way to unlock some new features. The game itself also comes pre-packed with awesome bonus content, characters and courses to unlock by just playing it. With so much cool stuff to get at, it’s important you know how to get it, so we’ve got some handy tips to help you get the most out of your game.

Mario Golf: World Tour has 21 characters in total, but a lot of these will be locked at the beginning of the game. There are four characters in particular that you can unlock by just playing the mini-game challenges which can be found by going to ‘Quick Round – Mario Golf’, selecting ‘Single Player’ and finally choosing ‘Challenges’. These mini-puzzles will have you doing all sorts of challenges, like collecting coins, racing against time limits and hitting golf balls through hoops, which is not only loads of fun, but by successfully completing tasks you’ll also collect medal coins for your effort which automatically unlock certain characters. You can unlock Toad after collecting 40 medals, Magikoopa Kamek after 45 medals, Paratroopa when you collect 50 medals, and Birdo after you’ve collected 55 medals in challenge mode.
